igus Humanoid Open Platform
Based on published sources · Not tested by us ·
Overview
A humanoid soccer research platform with a released load-bearing plastic body design and a separately maintained ROS framework. [S001]
The igus hardware repository preserves 37 STEP files for the humanoid's body, plus a historical brochure. Its README dates the design description to October 2015 and explicitly describes the files as the outer shell. The brochure explains that these plastic parts also form the load-bearing structure. This is useful manufacturing source material, but the file count does not establish a complete robot kit or procurement list. [S001] [S004] [S005]

Assembly and use
Treat fabrication and component sourcing as separate work
The brochure describes laser-sintered plastic construction and reports a 90 cm platform with 20 networked actuators, a quad-core PC, wide-angle cameras, inertial sensing and a lithium-polymer battery. Those historical specifications describe the platform; they do not identify a current compatible shopping basket. The preserved STEP collection does not resolve actuator availability, the complete electronics set, cable preparation or calibration. [S004] [S005]
Before ordering a body, select the fabrication process and reconcile the purchased components with the mechanical interfaces. A print quotation alone would omit electronics, actuators, compute, power, tools and integration. No current delivered build total or complete revision-matched assembly procedure was established in this review. [S001] [S004] [S005]
Preserve the software separately
The related AIS-Bonn ROS framework is a different repository, now preserved at its own commit. Its release documentation specifies Ubuntu 14.04 and ROS Indigo. These legacy prerequisites matter when estimating setup work: a download is not evidence that the framework runs unchanged on a current workstation or that a replacement controller is compatible. No software installation or robot operation was reproduced here. [S006] [S007]
The body README declares CC BY-SA 3.0 for the released data, while the framework carries BSD-3-Clause terms. Keep those scopes with their artifacts and separately assess purchased components. The next build decision needs a reconciled component list and software configuration, followed by actual fabrication, calibration and maintenance trials. [S001] [S006]
Cost
No current, complete configuration-specific build cost has been established for this profile.
