pib's #5 basic design is a full replacement for the #4 part set. The V5.0.0 release notes explicitly say not to combine the two generations. We preserved the newer V5.0.1 STL release, whose specific correction is B47-Power_Holder: the previous holder did not fit the intended splitter and requires reprinting. This is a concrete reason to retain the release number with the printed parts. [S005] [S006]

Assembly and use

Resolve two documentation mismatches before assembly

The #5 notes describe a Raspberry Pi 5 with 8 GB RAM, a 64 GB SD card, redesigned hands and changed arm servos. Their power specification is inconsistent: the overview table says 12 V, 20 A, while the detailed section says 12 V, 25 A. This profile does not choose between them. The exact supply, wiring and protection specification needs reconciliation with the selected #5 BOM. [S006]

The current build index links a motor-calibration tutorial, but the captured tutorial still labels itself pib#4 and lists older motor references. It calls for calibration before installing motors. That is evidence of the assembly workflow, not verification that its exact settings apply to the changed #5 actuators. Resolve the generation mismatch before using those settings. [S007] [S009]

Nonprinted components are listed separately in Onshape and offered in vendor boxes. The build page distinguishes #5 basic, #4 Advanced and the forthcoming #5 Advanced. This review does not treat those variants as interchangeable or establish a current complete delivered price. [S007]

Version the software as well as the prints

The setup tutorial requires a microSD reader, Pi power supply, keyboard, mouse and display connection, then directs builders to pib-backend. We preserved backend release v0.6.4 separately. Its README defaults to the pib5edu hardware variant and describes additional variant flags. However, its ordinary setup instructions download from main, and the backend and Cerebra branches also default to main. A repeatable build therefore needs both software revisions and their dependencies pinned alongside the STL release. [S008] [S010]

The STL archive carries GPL v3 text; the backend carries AGPL v3 text. These separate repository terms do not establish the rights or completeness of every CAD, firmware and purchased component. No installation, motor calibration or physical build was performed for this profile. [S003] [S010]
