Overview
The Star Arm 102-LD is a hand-guided 6-joint arm with a gripper input. In the Seeed reBot workflow it supplies joint positions to a B601 follower; it is a separate piece of hardware, not a second B601 variant. Fashion Star's repository identifies several 102 models, so use the hardware/102-ld/ files when assessing this leader configuration. [1] [2] [4]
Is this for you?
- Known limitations
- Repository-wide hardware and documentation reuse rights are unresolved.
- BOM lacks a sourced total and print settings; physical pairing has not been tested by OSR.
- The LD/HD URDF marks joint5 fixed despite a six-arm-joint hardware description; clarify model scope before kinematic validation.
What you need
- Operating system
- Ubuntu 22.04 for the documented direct Python and ROS 2 routes
- Host computer
Linux host for the documented LeRobot/reBot pairing; direct Python and ROS 2 routes have separate version requirements.
- Dependencies
- Seven specified Fashion Star UART bus servos
- 12 V supply and USB-UART adapter
- A compatible follower and host for teleoperation
- Tools
- 3D printer for listed printed parts
- Assembly tools and USB-UART adapter
Editorial inference from the cited source; no runtime verification.

Hardware & parts
Upstream bill of materials [2]
- Actuators
- Four RA8-U01H-M
- One RA8-U02H-M
- Two RA8-U03H-M UART bus servo/encoder modules; BOM describes no-torque-output input joints
- Controller
Host reads leader joint positions over UART; specific follower control depends on the selected integration.
- Power
12 V / 3 A leader supply in the manufacturer overview; follower supply is separate.
Applies to 102-LD only.
Assembly & first use
Open the upstream getting-started guide [1] · Project documentation [2]
- Choose the 102-LD variant and inspect its 29-item BOM and STEP/STL files.
- Print/fabricate the listed parts and assemble using the linked guide.
- Connect the UART leader, calibrate it, then follow the version-matched reBot pairing guide.
Editorial inference from the cited source; no runtime verification.
Cost
No current, complete configuration-specific build cost has been established for this profile.
3D preview
Preview not available yet. The pinned leader-arm repository includes STEP and STL design files, but an assembly matching the 102-LD configuration and permission to host its geometry have not been confirmed.

Project notes
What is available for a 102-LD build
The 102-LD page lists 29 assembly items and links a STEP assembly, individual STEP/STL parts, dimensioned drawings, a URDF and an assembly guide. Its BOM names four RA8-U01H-M, one RA8-U02H-M and two RA8-U03H-M UART servo/encoder modules. Print settings are not supplied; the guide leaves slicing choices to the builder. The parts list and geometry support an inspection or build attempt, but they do not establish a current complete purchase total or a verified first-working setup. [2] [5]
For teleoperation, the 102-LD BOM names a UC-01 USB-UART adapter, and the manufacturer's overview specifies 12 V / 3 A power for this leader. The B601 follower, host and its supply must be scoped through the selected reBot pairing guide. The compatibility guide distinguishes direct Python, two generations of LeRobot integration and ROS 2. It warns that the LeRobot packages use different device types and action keys, and that calibration files should not be swapped between them. [1] [2] [4]
The supplied LD/HD URDF marks joint5 as fixed, although the overview describes six movable arm joints plus gripper input. That is a model-file discrepancy to clarify before using this URDF for kinematic validation; it does not establish that the physical leader lacks the joint. [1] [5]

Rights and verification limits
The repository's LICENSE.md grants Apache-2.0 terms to named release-compatible plugins but explicitly says a consistent license for the hardware files and most documentation has not been established. The design files are accessible; their presence alone does not give a clear right to redistribute them. We therefore describe this as a source-available hardware reference and link to the original files rather than republishing its models or images. No 102-LD was fabricated, calibrated or paired with a B601 by Open Source Robotics. [2] [3] [4]
