Overview

Duckbot contributes a duckweed imaging/manipulation workflow for a Jubilee outfitted with laboratory tools. Its notebook helpers include experimental plate/well assignment rather than only forwarding a machine API. This is a scoped automation workflow associated with Science Jubilee, not a separate complete machine or a validated biological assay. [1] [6]

Host computer

README recommends machine-facing steps locally on Jubilee Raspberry Pi; steps 0 and 3 can run without the machine. No measured host resource minimum established.

Upstream documented requirement/configuration only, not independently tested installation or compatibility.

  • Inspect the named configuration, source interfaces and required external components.
  • Attempt only the matched documented workflow after resolving environment and rights gaps; no operation reproduced here.

Project notes

Install the workflow with its selected machine library

The README asks for a recursive clone, a Python virtual environment, an editable install of the included science_jubilee submodule and two dependency steps: requirements.txt, followed by requirements-no-dep.txt with --no-deps. The submodule link in this snapshot selects revision 719fb7d8fd23f04463299360e974abf710d4bd32; do not silently replace it with the newest parent API and assume notebook compatibility. No dependency environment or submodule runtime was installed. [1] [3] [4] [5] [7]

The notebook sequence distinguishes experimental setup/data analysis, which can run without a machine, from machine operations. The README says steps 0 and 3 can run independently of the machine and recommends machine-facing steps locally on Jubilee's Raspberry Pi. A successfully opened notebook is not evidence of a homed, configured tool or completed liquid-handling action. [1]

The experimental assignment is a real configuration input

GrowthAssayHelpers.py provides genotype/media/replicate assignment into supplied labware and imports the corresponding laboratory and analysis dependencies. The documented system handles up to six standard microplates; that is not a universal capacity or reproducibility result. Match plate definitions, tools, calibration and experimental layout before adapting the helper to a different setup. No wells were assigned for a real experiment and no assay was executed here. [1] [6]

The workflow's MIT notice does not settle external labware, the parent machine/tool designs, biological materials or analysis datasets. No volume accuracy, image-analysis validity, growth estimate or experimental result was independently validated. [2]

What we checked

Pinned source/document inspection only; no installation, compile, credentials/API use, simulator, lab experiment or physical hardware test.
