Overview
This repository contains robot sampling/integration software, including adaptive sampling logic and a manager coordinating navigation, arm lowering, scanning and arm return. Its concrete contribution is that robot-facing software workflow. It does not establish an independently reproducible complete rover, arm or instrument design. [1] [3]
Is this for you?
- Known limitations
- READMEservice names/staticaddresses/transforms are one researchinstallation, not portable defaults.
- Software source doesnotopencommercialarm, rover, sensor orPXRFhardware; no fieldmeasurement validated.
Editorial assessment of cited source; no runtime or hardware test.
What you need
Installation & first result
Open the upstream getting-started guide [1] [2] [3]
- Inspect the named configuration, source interfaces and required external components.
- Attempt only the matched documented workflow after resolving environment and rights gaps; no operation reproduced here.
Editorial assessment of cited source; no runtime or hardware test.
- Installation
Site-specific ROS 1 systemd/roslaunch services and listed Python packages; installed Rover Robotics, GQ7, HEBI and PXRF interfaces/configuration must be resolved.
Documented source requirements/route, not installation or compatibility reproduced by this catalog.
Project notes
Identify the installation assumptions first
The README starts ROS services through systemd and roslaunch, names a Rover Robotics service and a GQ7 odometry launch, and lists Python scientific/GUI packages. These are ROS 1 and site-specific integration instructions. A machine without those installed service definitions and vendor interfaces cannot be assumed to reproduce the setup by copying the commands. No service or dependency was installed. [1]
The HEBI arm section uses eth0 with static configuration. The PXRF section uses usb1 and lists addresses but says it might use DHCP: resolve that addressing mode for the selected installation. Its GPS section contains measured and older transform values. Treat them as documentation of one research arrangement, not configuration values discovered for the reader's robot. Match device addressing, permissions, sensor mounting and frame conventions before connecting the software to equipment. No network or instrument was accessed here. [1]
Begin with the sampling/control interface
The selected adaptiveROS.py source is an implementation path for studying how sampling decisions enter the ROS workflow. The README distinguishes older and current state diagrams and describes several scripts as superseded or experimental. Preserve that distinction when selecting an entry point instead of treating every listed algorithm as the deployed manager. A diagram or a returned success state is not independent evidence of arrival, arm motion or a completed scan. [1] [3]
The root notice is BSD-3-Clause. The commercial arm, rover, inertial receiver and PXRF instrument retain separate interfaces and rights. No field run, localization, adaptive-sampling result, arm control, measurement accuracy or recovery behavior was tested. [2]
What we checked
Pinned source/document inspection only; no installation, compile, credentials/API use, simulator, lab experiment or physical hardware test.
